For more than 60 years the Paris-born collector George Ortiz has assiduously traveled the world in search of the finest ancient art. The scope and variety of these works is considerable, as evidenced by a cheerful Egyptian hippopotamus; an elegant Corinthian helmet; a solemn, lifelike bronze of Demosthenes; and a fierce terracotta head from Nigeria. Ortiz personally wrote the text for this book, offering both his erudite commentary and his personal impressions of the artwork.
